After over 60 years handcrafting and servicing boiling water units in Melbourne, Whelan Water will be officially closing its doors on September 16th 2021.
AquaClear Managing Director Rob Williams paid respect to their team today; “Whelan have been a supplier over many years, we’ve got a lot of respect for their team and products. Tomorrow will be a really sad day for us and the whole industry.”
“When Damian (Whelan Water’s Managing Director) reached out to say they were looking for someone to buy their brand, and that we were their first choice, we were really honoured.”
AquaClear will take on Whelan’s stock, spare parts, customer list and brand name. The agreement does not include Whelan’s team, premises or manufacturing operation (which has ceased.)
“We wish we had the ability to take on their staff, however we are not a manufacturer and due to the Pandemic, we don’t have enough work for our own team at the moment. That’s the saddest thing about this for everybody. They’re excellent people.”
“Financially this could not have come at a worse possible time for us. As a corporate and government offices focused business, we’re finding this economic environment tough. It’s a shocking situation. We’ve stretched to take on as much as we possibly can to help out another Aussie business.”

They’ll hear from us before each service due date and we’ll service their systems, just like we have the Whelan units that we’ve sold for years.”

As a proud reseller of their products for years, AquaClear is not aware of any common Whelan product related issues. If customers have any warranty related queries, we’re happy to take their call and advise them of their options.”
